Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.
